Night‑time Alcohol Ban in Warsaw Holds: Patrol Finds No Sales Violations

From November 1, Warsaw imposed a 10‑p.m. to 6‑a.m. alcohol‑sale ban in two districts; city patrol data from November 2024 and 2025 shows no violations of the ban.

Patrol Analysis of Night‑time Incidents

The Warsaw City Patrol examined the number of disturbances between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in November 2024 and 2025 in Śródmieście and Praga‑Północ, covering fights, noise, night drinking and drunken brawls.

Year‑over‑Year Incident Tally

In November 2023, 216 incidents were recorded—89 for general disorder and 129 for alcohol consumption—and 179 individuals were processed by the Central Center for the Drowsy. In November 2024, the count fell to 206 incidents (80 disorder, 126 alcohol) with 144 people sent to the center (25 in Praga‑Północ, 119 in Śródmieście). No breaches of the alcohol‑sale ban were noted.

Patrol Advises Caution in Drawing Conclusions

Despite the decline, the patrol cautions against over‑interpreting the findings, noting that the short observation period limits the reliability of any conclusions, stated the Press Office.

Residents Await Citywide Ban

The ban, effective since November 1, applies only to convenience stores and petrol stations, not bars or restaurants. A citywide extension is planned to begin on 1 June next year.

Debate Over Full Night‑time Prohibition

Earlier criticism from residents arose when the city council declined to enact a full night prohibition. After discussions with KO councilors, the ban will initially cover two districts and expand in mid‑year.
