Scene and response

Medical services attending the scene confirmed the child’s death after performing a full examination. Police from Gwent county are present and conducting the investigation.

Police statement

Deputy Inspector John Davies said officers are on scene and will continue the inquiry as the investigation progresses. No arrests have been made because of the child’s death.

Dog seized, breed under scrutiny
