On Sunday, 21 December, Warsaw authorities are negotiating with a 36‑year‑old Ukrainian who abducted a 9‑year‑old boy and barricaded himself with the child at a suburban yard.

Emergency Search Spans Hours

Several hours of intensive search operations were conducted across Warsaw on 21 December, following reports that a Ukrainian citizen had taken a child from the home where the boy lived with his mother.

Kidnapping at Family Home

Police received information that the suspect had removed the child from the family apartment and carried him to an unknown location in the capital.

Barricade on Białałęka

The suspect allegedly reached his own residence and barricaded himself with the child in the yard at the junction of Trakt Nadwiślański and Obrazkowa streets in the Białałęka district.

He threatened that any police intervention would result in harm to the boy. The police have fenced the area to prevent access by bystanders.

Police Deploy Negotiators and Counter‑Terror Units

Negotiators, alongside units from the Criminal Police, K9 tracking, and the Independent Counter‑Terrorism Sub‑Unit, are engaged in the operation. Their priority remains the safe return of the child.

Suspect’s Background

The suspect is a 36‑year‑old Ukrainian who was the former partner of the child’s mother. All individuals involved in the incident are of Ukrainian nationality.
