Not Mass, Not Prayer: New Dominant Trend in Readers’ Declarations

Majority of Gazeta.pl readers declare no church attendance, with 54.85% opting out in a portal poll conducted on January 22, 2026.

Majority Declares No Church Attendance

Over half of respondents in the Gazeta.pl portal poll (54.85%, result from January 22, 2026) declared they do not go to church, making this the most frequently chosen answer. This shows the scale of distance from regular religious practices among the portal’s readers. The second largest group consists of people who declare regular church attendance (29.89%), which is less than one third of respondents.

Occasional Visits Remain Rare

The option “sometimes” was chosen by only about 15 percent of those participating in the poll. This shows that the model of sporadic participation is today much less popular than complete abandonment or regular attendance, suggesting an increasingly clear polarization of attitudes. Some readers declare constant participation, but a significantly larger group openly admits they do not go to church at all.

Broader Trend of Declining Religious Practices

The results of the Gazeta.pl poll indicate a clear weakening of daily religious practices. Non-participation in services has become the dominant declaration, which fits into the social changes observed for years. Although the poll is not a national survey, it well reflects the mood among people actively following social and religious topics, showing that for many readers, the Church is ceasing to be a constant element of daily life.
