Notary Faces Online Harassment After Constitutional Tribunal Oath Ceremony

A Polish notary, Dariusz Kramarz, has been subjected to a wave of online hate and doxxing following his participation in a controversial oath-taking ceremony for Constitutional Tribunal judges.

Notary Targeted by Online Hate Campaign

The involvement of a notary in the contentious oath-taking ceremony of Constitutional Tribunal judges sparked a surge of online aggression and the public release of the lawyer’s sensitive personal data.

While legal experts debate the legality of the proceedings in the Sejm, the National Council of Notaries (KRN) is defending its colleague, appealing for an end to disparaging opinions.

Notary Kramarz Becomes Focus of Harassment

Notary Dariusz Kramarz became the target of widespread harassment after attending Thursday’s “oath” of six Constitutional Tribunal judges in the Sejm’s Column Hall. Reports indicate that his name and the address of his law office on Wiejska Street were published online, along with material from his private social media activity.

This situation stems from controversy surrounding the form of the act, which – despite the absence of President Karol Nawrocki – was held “before the president,” raising doubts among politicians and some legal professionals.

Legal Concerns Raised Regarding Notary’s Role

Professor Paweł Czubik, a judge of the Supreme Court and former notary, expressed serious reservations about the notary’s role in the event. He stated that a notary is not permitted to record or certify public law acts not provided for by law.

The expert directly stated: “Either a private act with no public law effects took place in the Sejm, or the notary violated the law.” These voices in public debate further fueled the atmosphere surrounding the Warsaw notary.

KRN Responds to Harassment

In response to the wave of criticism, the National Council of Notaries convened an urgent meeting to take a position on Kramarz’s participation in the ceremony. Magdalena Arendt, Vice President of the KRN, appealed for “refraining from hasty comments regarding the role and function of the notary, as well as from disseminating harmful and deprecating opinions.”

The self-governing body emphasized that the legal community expects the public to act responsibly and respect the role notaries play in the legal system.

Notary Acted Impartially, Council Argues

According to the notarial self-government, Dariusz Kramarz, by performing the act, did not take sides in the political dispute. The community stresses that the escalation of animosity and the publication of the law office’s address goes beyond the merits of the legal discussion.

The matter has become another flashpoint in the dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal, directly impacting the notary performing his professional duties.
