A 14‑year‑old student in Olsztyn attacked a teacher during a break on December 17, choking her and was isolated until parents arrived.
Attack During Break
A 14‑year‑old seventh‑ or eighth‑grade student attacked a teacher at school on Wednesday, 17 December in Olsztyn. He allegedly strangled her during a break, prompting the teacher to act in self‑defence. Witnesses report the boy resisted forcefully, damaging the intervening teacher’s fingernails while attempting to free the victim.
Teacher’s Intervention
Teachers present intervened immediately, restraining the attacker. The teacher suffered minor injuries—broken fingernails—while trying to liberate the colleague who was strangling her.
Administrator’s Statement
The school principal confirmed the incident in a statement to TVN24. She said the teacher reacted to a conflict between the student and another child, and that the 14‑year‑old acted impulsively, violating the teacher’s bodily integrity, prompting swift action from a duty teacher and another pedagogue.
Student Isolated Awaiting Parents
Officials reported the student was isolated in the school’s pedagogical office and waited for the arrival of informed parents.
Police Investigation & Family Court
Police officer Jacek Wilczewski explained that they are securing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preserving CCTV footage. The material will be handed to the family court for further proceedings.
