Outrage Over US Ambassador’s Trump Remarks

US Ambassador Tom Rose cut ties with Polish Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty over “offensive” criticism of President Trump, sparking controversy.

Democrats Condemn Decision

On Thursday (February 6), US Ambassador Tom Rose terminated contact with Polish Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, citing “outrageous and unjustified slurs against President Donald Trump.”

Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks, speaking for the House Foreign Affairs Committee, criticized the move as “a petty and unwarranted crusade by Trump,” stating it reinforces his reputation as “transactional and force-driven.”

Online Backlash

The White House and State Department declined to comment, but Ambassador Rose’s actions ignited online criticism. The Atlantic’s David Frum quipped, “Chat GPT could manage better US-Poland relations.” Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger called for Rose’s dismissal, asking, “Can we agree our ambassador in Poland is a dickhead infuriating one of our closest allies?”

Diplomatic Fallout

Former Kamala Harris advisor Phil Gordon warned, “If ambassadors from other nations cut ties over trivial insults, we’d have few allies.” He cited a recent poll showing only 35% of Poles trust the US President for international conduct—a steep drop from 75% last year. Gordon added, “While the US-Poland alliance is robust, this ambassador seems determined to test it.”
