Parachutist Dies in Leszno Airport Accident

A 39-year-old man died Friday morning after crashing during a commercial parachute jump at Leszno Airport in Poland.

Accident Details

The incident occurred on Friday, May 1st, before noon. The 39-year-old resident of the Wrocław district struck the ground during landing.

Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by emergency services and multiple individuals, the man could not be saved, according to police spokesperson Monika Żymełka, as reported by Radio Poznań.

Commercial Jump

The parachutist was participating in a commercial flight.

Investigation Launched

Police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, and the State Commission for the Investigation of Air Accidents will investigate the circumstances of the accident.

Witness Accounts

According to unofficial reports from the 112 Polkowice portal, witnesses stated that a sudden air vortex caused the parachutist to lose control of his parachute.

The portal also reported that a “Bike May Day” event was taking place at the airport at the time of the accident, resulting in a large number of bystanders present.
