Parents Leave Child in Car to Drink; Flee Police After Pursuit in Poznań

On Saturday, May 30, parents in Poznań abandoned their 6-8-year-old child in a parked BMW to consume alcohol by the Warta River, later leading police on a chase through city streets.

Neglect at the Riverside

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 30, around 4:00 PM on Czartoria Street in central Poznań. The parents parked their BMW and left their child, aged approximately 6-8, alone inside the vehicle while they went to drink alcohol by the river.

From Vehicle Abandonment to High-Speed Evasion

City guards reported that the child eventually exited the car and walked to join the parents. After the trio returned to the vehicle, the man drove toward Chwaliszewo.

A city monitoring operator spotted the unattended child earlier and alerted the police. When a patrol vehicle approached, the driver attempted to flee, triggering a pursuit through Ciasna, Wenecjańska, Wielka, and Garbary streets.

Arrest and Impoundment

Police eventually stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Szewska and Dominikańska streets. A breathalyzer test confirmed the driver was intoxicated.

The entire operation was coordinated between police and the city monitoring department. The man was taken into custody, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
