Paris Court Hears Defamation Plea Against Brigitte Macron

Brigitte Macron filed a lawsuit in Paris against ten individuals for online defamation, with the case set for 27 October, while a separate U.S. suit targets right‑wing podcaster Candace Owens.

Paris Court Hears Defamation Plea Against Brigitte Macron

Brigitte Macron filed a false‑claims lawsuit in the French court system in 2024, naming ten alleged harassers, including eight men and two women aged 41 to 60.

The defendants are scheduled to appear before the Paris court on Monday, 27 October, for charges that they spread remarks about her sex, sexuality, and alleged relationship with her husband‑in‑law, Jean‑Michel Trogneux.

Accused deny all allegations and face up to two years in prison.

Key Defendants in the Paris Case

Among the accused is 41‑year‑old journalist Aurélien Poirson‑Atlan, known online as “Zoé Sagan,” who is tied to circles that promote conspiracy theories.

Another defendant, 51‑year‑old Delphine J., presents herself as a spirit medium and uses the pseudonym Amandine Roy. A lower court had ordered her to compensate Brigitte Macron and her brother, but that judgment was struck down on appeal. The appellate court ruled the case did not meet the legal definition of defamation.

Separate U.S. Lawsuit Targets Candace Owens

Emmanuel Macron also filed a suit in the United States against right‑wing podcaster Candace Owens, alleging that her repeated claims that Brigitte Macron was born male constitute “false and destructive lies.”

The U.S. complaint notes that evidence “clearly disproves” the narrative, describing it as part of a “global campaign of humiliation and relentless, worldwide intimidation.”

Since 2022, Brigitte has not publicly commented on the gender allegations, saying the claims attack her family’s genealogy.

Owens’ Free‑Speech Defense and Venue Dispute

Owens maintains that her statements are truthful and cites freedom of speech, while her lawyers argue the case should not proceed in Delaware because her client’s companies are not registered there.

According to her legal team, litigating the case in that jurisdiction would expose Owens to severe financial and organizational hardship.
