Paris Ukraine Summit Canceled at Last Minute

On Friday night, 12 December, the Élysée Palace announced that the scheduled Saturday meeting of Ukrainian, European, and U.S. representatives in Paris would not take place, citing organizational issues.

Meeting Cancelled in Paris

The Élysée Palace confirmed that the planned summit involving Ukraine, the European Union, and the United States would not proceed as scheduled.

Reasons Given by Élysée

French officials stated that the cancellation was due to organizational shortcomings rather than escalating tensions between Washington and Europe.

They also insisted that Ukraine had not agreed to any territorial concessions to Russia, contradicting media reports.

Continuing Peace Plan Negotiations

Discussions on the American peace plan are ongoing, with American negotiators continuing to coordinate with Ukrainian counterparts.

French presidential advisers emphasized that the U.S. focuses on territorial issues while Europe and Ukraine prioritize security guarantees.

Further talks on the peace plan are scheduled for the following week.

Berlin Summit Arranged for 15 December

In Germany, authorities confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet European leaders in Berlin on Monday, 15 December.

German officials indicated that NATO representatives will also be present, and the meeting will take place alongside a German‑Ukrainian business forum where Zelensky is expected to speak with Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Key Participants in Upcoming Meetings

The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to join the Berlin talks.

The summit is part of a series of European political negotiations linked to a peace plan originally proposed by former President Donald Trump.
