Parliament Considers Uniformed Family Card: New Benefits for Over 1.2 Million Citizens

A draft law introduced in the Sejm seeks to implement a Uniformed Family Card, offering over 1.2 million service members, veterans, and their families prioritized medical access and various financial discounts.

Legislative Progress and Objectives

On February 10, 2026, a parliamentary bill regarding the Uniformed Family Card was introduced to the Sejm. The project, which has passed its first reading, is currently under review by the Administration and Internal Affairs Committee and the National Defense Committee.

The legislation aims to support soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces, personnel under the Ministry of Interior, veterans, pensioners, and surviving family members. The initiative is intended to boost recruitment and retention within these sectors by enhancing the prestige of uniformed service.

Scope of Eligibility and Benefits

The system is designed to benefit approximately 1.27 million individuals without imposing any income threshold. Eligible recipients include police officers, firefighters, active-duty soldiers, reservists, and their families.

Key benefits include priority access to medical care within defense and interior ministry facilities, bypassing standard waiting lists. Furthermore, the act proposes a series of transportation discounts, including up to 37% off single train tickets and 49% off monthly passes.

Symbolic Recognition and Implementation

Beyond material benefits, the project mandates the establishment of a “Uniformed Family Day” to honor the sacrifices made by families of service personnel. The estimated cost for the state budget is 50 million PLN for the first year of operation.

As of May 18, 2026, the proposal awaits further committee opinions and a second reading. While still in the early stages of the legislative process, the government describes the initiative as a comprehensive support package for the uniformed community.
