Polish parliamentarian Paweł Kukiz says he will vote for Włodzimierz Czarzasty in the upcoming Sejm marshal election, insisting on a cheerful candidate over a party‑aligned rival.
Kukiz pledges backing for Czarzasty
Polish lawyer and politician Paweł Kukiz, member of the Republican Party, told the free‑press outlet “Super Express” that he will vote for Włodzimierz Czarzasty in the upcoming Sejm marshal election.
Kukiz said he would rather nominate a cheerful figure than a typical Party of Civic Platform member, adding that Czarzasty would make as cheerful a marshal as Szymon Hołownia.
Biejat stresses adhering to coalition deals
Senate vice‑marshal Magdalena Biejat told TVN24 that any change to the coalition‑agreed marshal position is “off the table” and that agreements must be kept or renegotiated through proper channels.
She warned that negotiations should not spill onto social media and reminded lawmakers that decisions are not left to parties, partners or political groups to dictate who should sit on the marshal desk.
Changes to Sejm marshal post
On 13 November former marshal Szymon Hołownia announced his resignation, having previously agreed that the marshal seat would be filled by a co‑chair of Lewica, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, per the coalition agreement between the Civic Coalition, Polish People’s Party, Polish 2050 and Lewica.
The vote is scheduled for 19 November, coinciding with the start of a three‑day parliamentary session. Hołowni said that no special session would be called solely for the marshal appointment.
