Polish presidential minister mocks foreign affairs chief Sikorski in Peace Council dispute after ministry’s response criticized.
Nawrocki Criticizes MSZ Response
On Thursday, January 22, Karol Nawrocki criticized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ (MSZ) opinion on Poland joining the Peace Council.
He stated that he expected more from the MSZ given the geopolitical changes and the emergence of a new international organization.
Sikorski Responds to Criticism
Foreign Affairs Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to Nawrocki’s criticism, saying, “It’s a shame the president doesn’t appreciate that the government enabled him to avoid a misstep without damaging PL-US relations.”
He added, “Poland should play from the same playbook.”
Przydacz Mocks Sikorski
Head of the Presidential Office’s International Policy Department, Marcin Przydacz, responded to Sikorski’s remarks, writing, “O! He does exist! It’s a shame neither the minister nor his ministry was as wise and active when the president was making decisions important for Poland.”
Wewiór Defends MSZ Position
MSZ spokesman Maciej Wewiór responded to Przydacz’s post, stating, “These personal attacks continue… You’re trying to ridicule an expert—deputy director at MSZ—just because he provided the response two days ago.”
He noted, “It’s incomprehensible that the request for an opinion came from the exact same level—from a deputy director in the President’s Chancellery.”
Nawrocki Calls Response ‘Not Entirely Serious’
During a press conference in Davos, Switzerland, Nawrocki called the MSZ response “not entirely serious,” stating that a deputy director’s opinion was insufficient amid geopolitical shifts.
He added, “The deputy director’s opinion—despite Minister Przydacz calling him a very capable person—was not entirely serious for cooperation between the MSZ and the Presidential Chancellery. It was the only formal document we received.”
