On Monday, a 57‑year‑old woman was fatally struck by a Volkswagen while crossing a marked pedestrian crossing in the small town of Wiciejów, east Poland.

The crash occurred in Wiciejów, a small community in the Gmina Cegłów, Mińsk County, Masovian Voivodeship. A clearly marked pedestrian crossing was the site of the fatal collision.
Victim and Perpetrator
The 57‑year‑old victim was walking across the crossing when she was hit by a Volkswagen sedan driven by a 54‑year‑old man. The driver was found to be sober and possessed the required driving license.
Medical Response
The victim suffered severe injuries, was taken to a hospital in a critical condition, and died a few hours later despite medical efforts.
