A woman was injured on Thursday morning in Warsaw’s Targówek district after walking into the side of a departing line 4 tram near the intersection of Rembielińska and Kondratowicza streets.
Collision at the Intersection
On Thursday, May 21, at approximately 8:00 a.m., an accident occurred involving a pedestrian and a line 4 tram. The woman entered the tracks and collided with the right side of the tram as it began moving.
Incident Details and Traffic Signal Violation
Preliminary findings indicate that after exiting a tram near the Targówek stop, the woman walked toward the pedestrian crossing. Reports suggest she shortcut across the tracks about two meters before the designated crossing point.
The pedestrian allegedly entered the track area while the signal was red for her direction. Simultaneously, the line 4 tram was departing on a green signal. The conscious victim was attended to by emergency medical services at the scene.
Disruptions to Public Transport
The incident caused significant delays to tram lines 3, 4, 25, and 71. Normal traffic was restored shortly after 9:00 a.m. following the implementation of temporary detours and a replacement bus service, labeled “ZA TRAMWAJ,” which operated between Rondo Starzyńskiego and Żerań Wschodni.
