Piastów’s volunteer fire department was awarded a PLN 25,000 grant to buy a laundry system for combat gear, improving firefighter safety.
25,000 PLN Grant Details
The volunteer fire department in Piastów has received a PLN 25,000 grant under the “Mazowsze for Fire Services” program administered by the Masovian Voivodeship. The money will be used to purchase a specialized laundry system for combat gear, enhancing safety during rescue and firefighting operations.
Impact on Firefighter Safety
The grant enables the purchase of a laundry unit capable of handling clothing exposed to high temperatures, smoke, and chemicals. Keeping the gear in proper technical and sanitary condition is vital for firefighter health and the equipment’s protective efficacy.
Regional Funding Program
The funding comes from the regional support program, which annually allocates resources to volunteer units across the voivodeship to improve equipment and infrastructure, thereby raising safety for residents.
Historic Service
The Piastów unit has operated continuously since 1923 and entered the National Rescue System in 1995, ensuring readiness to collaborate with the State Fire Service on operations beyond the town limits.
Recent Honors
In 2023 the unit celebrated its 100th anniversary and was honored with the Golden Badge of the Polish Volunteer Fire Service Association for long‑standing service to fire protection and the local community, receiving medals and public acknowledgments.
Long‑Term Modernization Effort
This latest financial support aligns with a broader plan to modernize OSP Piastów, upgrading equipment to meet the growing call volume and varied hazards in the densely populated Pruszków County.
