PiS Faces Internal Division Ahead of Elections: “Kaczyński Caused All the Problems”

Former aide Marek Mastalerek alleges Jarosław Kaczyński is actively fostering a split within the PiS party, while MPs Kowalski and Mejza have left the parliamentary club.

Mastalerka’s Assessment of PiS’s Future

Marek Mastalerek appeared on TVN24’s “Fakty po Faktach” on May 4th, where he was questioned about the possibility of a PiS party split before the 2027 parliamentary elections. The former head of President Duda’s chancellery stated that Kaczyński is “doing everything” to cause a division.

Morawiecki’s Position Within the Party

Mastalererek stated that Kaczyński’s decisions have benefited those seeking to remove Morawiecki from his position. He believes some PiS politicians prefer a smaller, more radical party, “exclusively their own,” anticipating numerous future councilors, MPs, and MEPs.

Mastalererek argues that Jarosław Kaczyński’s decisions have aided those wanting Morawiecki’s removal. He stated, “It was President Kaczyński who caused all the problems that he is now heroically solving.”

MPs Kowalski and Mejza Leave PiS Club

Europoseł Adam Bielan also commented on the situation within PiS, referencing Janusz Kowalski’s resignation from the PiS parliamentary club on April 30th. Bielan deferred questions regarding the matter to the party’s press spokesperson, club leader, and the individuals involved, suggesting he may know more than is publicly available.

Recent Departures and Internal Discussions

PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek recently announced that Łukasz Mejza was no longer a member of the PiS club. Bielan stated that the departure of both MPs had been discussed for weeks, emphasizing they represented only “one percent of the parliamentary composition.”
