A petition has been started by Poland’s ruling PiS party today to expel MP Jacek Kurski over accusations of misconduct.
Petition Launched Against Kurski
Polish MPs, independent of factional lines, have begun collecting signatures to remove Jacek Kurski from the PiS party.
Conflict Over Party Dues
Waldemar Buda announced the petition on social media, citing Kurski’s alleged failure to pay membership fees. Kurski replied, accusing Buda of defaulting on dues, a point he previously denied.
Kurski’s Clash with Morawiecki Over Smoleńsk
Kurski appeared on a right‑wing TV station, calling himself an outsider who would intervene against “false moves.” He then criticized Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, alleging Morawiecki had a problem with the Smoleńsk tragedy, accusing the premier of withholding Lech Kaczyński’s membership in the National Development Council and later becoming an adviser to former Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Criticising Morawiecki’s Policies
On Monday, Kurski posted four extensive articles attacking Morawiecki’s climate policy and loyalty to Jarosław Kaczyński. He also cited a conversation with Grzegorz Sroczyński in Gazeta.pl. The posts were widely commented on by politicians and journalists before being deleted.
Proposing TVP and Prime Minister Candidates
In a separate statement, Kurski said he would not seek the TVP presidency but expected Morawiecki not to claim the prime minister’s seat. He suggested a younger replacement for the prime minister, naming former ministers and officials as potential candidates.
