On May 28, Border Guard officers intervened on a flight from Rzeszów to Warsaw after Law and Justice (PiS) MP Marcin Porzucek was allegedly unable to disembark the aircraft himself.
The Onboard Incident
According to reports from the “Fakt” newspaper, the intervention took place after other passengers had already exited the plane. One traveler claimed the politician failed to respond to crew instructions to disembark, eventually necessitating physical assistance to remove him from the aircraft.
Witnesses cited by the newspaper suggested that Porzucek appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
Official Airport Statement
Piotr Rudzki, spokesperson for Warsaw Chopin Airport, confirmed that an intervention was necessary due to concerns regarding a passenger’s health or life. However, he declined to provide further details, citing the sensitive nature of medical data.
MP Cites Health Issues
Porzucek denied allegations of intoxication, attributing his inability to walk to chronic hip problems. He stated that he is awaiting an MRI and that his condition has been visible to observers for several weeks.
The MP confirmed that assistance from the Border Guard was solely due to his physical ailment. He noted that he was not tested with a breathalyzer but provided a blood sample for toxicology analysis.
Questions Remain
In a subsequent interview with TVN, Porzucek reiterated his claims regarding his hip condition. However, he did not address specific reports questioning his sobriety or clarify why his medical condition prevented him from exiting the plane independently.
