Polish media outlet Radio ZET reports that Michał Dworczyk will be interrogated as a suspect by the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, possibly on charges related to the 2021 mail scandal. The proceedings are scheduled for December 19 at noon.
Controversial Press Conference
At a PiS‑organized press conference prior to the interrogation, the party referenced a purported leak from a private parliamentary email account, claiming it resulted from a hacking attack. TVN24 journalist Radomir Wit questioned Dworczyk about his decision not to use a work email to secure correspondence.
Dworczyk’s Defense of Email Practices
Dworczyk explained that no Polish law requires officials to use a work email, citing a lack of regulation. He said he employed various accounts, including a KPRM email, to manage political, party, governmental, and mixed matters separately.
Journalist’s Accusations and Dworczyk’s Counter
Wit suggested that contacts with Brigadier Gaj and Ambassador Szatkowski were strictly party affairs. Dworczyk rebuffed, stating that those communications involved political, party, and governmental issues and that the journalist had selectively quoted his remarks to shape a narrative. He also pointed out that he had not justified using a private email and demanded that the journalist cite any rule that forbids such use.
