PiS MPs Face Pay Cuts for Disrupting Parliament

Two PiS lawmakers, Dariusz Matecki and Michał Woś, will each lose half their salary for three months following disruptions during a parliamentary session in April.

Financial Penalties for PiS MPs

MPs Dariusz Matecki and Michał Woś of the PiS party have been penalized with a three-month reduction of half their salary for disrupting parliamentary proceedings in mid-April, according to Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty.

Disruptions and Exclusion from Session

During the previous Sejm session in mid-April, Matecki and Woś were excluded from the chamber for obstructing the conduct of business. The PiS MPs displayed posters featuring Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Speaker Monika Wielichowska alongside Kamila L., a former PO activist from Kłodzko.

Unanimous Decision by Sejm Presidium

Speaker Czarzasty announced on Tuesday that the Sejm Presidium had imposed further consequences on Matecki and Woś regarding the disruption of proceedings. The decision to penalize the MPs was unanimous, resulting in a three-month salary reduction of half their pay.

The Incident: “Just Don’t Tell Anyone” Posters

During the plenary session, Matecki presented a large photograph of Prime Minister Tusk with Kamila L., accompanied by the inscription “Just don’t tell anyone.” Speaker Czarzasty repeatedly called Matecki to order for disrupting the session and ultimately excluded him.

Subsequently, Woś attempted to display the same photograph before the Sejm rostrum. He also received warnings from Czarzasty and was subsequently excluded from the session.

Context of the Kamila L. Case and Court Rulings

On March 19th, the District Court in Świdnica sentenced 41-year-old Kamila L. (a former PO activist from Kłodzko) to 6.5 years imprisonment for failing to assist a minor experiencing sexual abuse and for animal cruelty, witnessing acts of zoophilia committed by her husband.

Her husband received a prior, non-final sentence of 25 years in prison for offenses including rape, administering narcotics to victims, possessing pornography, and animal abuse. Prosecutors stated he committed sexual crimes against children under 15 and animals.

Response from the Ministry of Justice

In early April, Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek stated he had requested detailed information from the national prosecutor regarding the Kłodzko case, expressing concern over the severity of the crimes and advocating for the harshest possible penalties.

Connection to Monika Wielichowska

Social media posts circulated images of Kamila L. with Deputy Speaker Monika Wielichowska, primarily taken during election campaigns. Wielichowska issued a statement distancing herself from any private relationship with the woman.
