PiS Rift: Müller Accuses Politicians of Misleading Kaczyński Over Morawiecki Association

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s new association is causing division within PiS, with Piotr Müller alleging that Kaczyński was misled about its intentions.

Morawiecki Forms Association

In early April, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki confirmed the establishment of a new association in an interview with WirtualnaPolski. He stated the initiative aims to unite individuals dissatisfied with existing right-wing parties, including PiS, Konfederacja, and Korona Polska.

Following the interview, Jarosław Kaczyński, the leader of PiS, met with Morawiecki to discuss the situation within the party. Sources indicate the meeting aimed to “discipline” the former Prime Minister, whose recent actions were perceived as deviating from the party line.

Müller: Kaczyński Was Misinformed

According to former PiS spokesperson and current MEP Piotr Müller, Kaczyński was misled regarding the association’s intentions by politicians from Suwerenna Polska. Müller stated, “The problem is politicians from the former Suwerenna Polska, who are doing everything to push Mateusz Morawiecki out of PiS – Jaki, Ozdoba, Kurski, etc. – Gentlemen, stop!”

Allegations of Counter-PiS Activity

Müller claims these politicians are attempting to create the impression of activity contrary to PiS’s interests. He questioned the continued existence of separate Suwerenna Polska structures with PiS politicians as administrators, asking, “Is this not a contradiction?”

Kaczyński Threatens Exclusion from Electoral Lists

Approximately 40 MPs have already joined the association, and TVN24 reports that Kaczyński has warned that anyone joining the organization will be excluded from PiS’s electoral lists. The issue of Morawiecki’s actions is scheduled for discussion in a Monday meeting between Morawiecki and Kaczyński.

Müller Confident Kaczyński Will Reconsider

Müller expressed confidence that Kaczyński will change his stance once he understands the reality of the situation and the negative intentions of those who misled him.

PiS Losing Support, Current Strategy Ineffective

Müller asserted that the association is not an alternative to PiS but aims to broaden the party’s electorate, which has been losing support. He stated, “Since 2023, we have lost over 10 percentage points of support. We must fight for it. The current method is ineffective.”

He highlighted the lowest level of support for PiS and called for a return to a broader strategy involving associations and organizations, urging caution in the use of strong rhetoric.
