PiS Senator Loses License for Speeding

Senator Mieczysław Golba of PiS had his driver’s license suspended after being caught speeding on April 17th near Wierzbna, Poland.

Senator Golba’s Traffic Violation

On April 17th, after 7:00 PM, police stopped a vehicle in Wierzbna, leading to the suspension of Senator Mieczysław Golba’s driver’s license.

The PiS politician was found to be exceeding the speed limit. His vehicle reached 128 km/h on a road outside of a built-up area.

Golba exceeded the speed limit by 58 km/h. He received a warning, and his license was suspended for three months. An investigation into the infraction has been launched.

Senator’s Explanation

Senator Golba stated he was rushing to catch a flight, according to portal nowiny24.pl. He acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted responsibility.

“I was driving too fast and committed an offense. You have to take responsibility for it. There is no need to hide behind immunity,” Golba reportedly said.

Background on Mieczysław Golba

Mieczysław Golba has been a member of parliament since 2005. He was initially a member of Law and Justice (PiS).

In 2011, he joined Solidarna Polska (now Suwerenna Polska) and remained a member until October 2024. Following the dissolution of Suwerenna Polska and its unification with its former coalition partner, he rejoined PiS.

Golba’s Parliamentary and Sporting Roles

From 2005 to 2015, Golba served as a member of the Sejm for the V, VI, and VII terms. Since 2015, he has continuously served in the Senate (IX, X, and XI terms).

For many years, Golba has combined his public activities with roles in sports organizations. He has been the president of the Podkarpackie Football Association since 2016 and was re-elected in March 2024 for another four-year term.

Nationally, he served as the vice-president of the Polish Football Association for foreign affairs from 2021 to 2025.
