PiS Tempts PSL with ‘Last Chance Offer’ Allegedly Backed by US

PiS reportedly offers PSL a technocratic government with Kosiniak-Kamysz as PM, allegedly citing US expectations.

“Third Temptation” of Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz

According to “Rzeczpospolita,” PiS is proposing to create a technocratic government with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz as its leader. This is described as at least the “third temptation” of the People’s Party leader. Similar proposals were allegedly made after the 2023 elections and following Karol Nawrocki’s victory.

PiS Allegedly Cited Purported US Expectations

During the most recent attempt, PiS politicians allegedly invoked supposed expectations from Washington. They reportedly suggested to Kosiniak-Kamysz that Americans would cut off his contacts with the Pentagon and White House if he rejected the “last chance offer.” However, the People’s Party allegedly ignored these threats. The newspaper also notes that forming a new government might fail due to parliamentary arithmetic, as more votes would be needed than PiS and PSL currently have.

PiS Received Ultimatum from US Embassy?

The newspaper also reported that according to its findings, the Trump administration had allegedly warned PiS against a potential alliance with Grzegorz Braun’s party. TVN24 previously noted a change in tone after Jarosław Kaczyński’s meeting with the US ambassador. Three sources told TVN24 that “the change in tone became visible after Jarosław Kaczyński’s meeting with the US ambassador.” Kaczyński himself recently stated: “If we wanted to create a coalition with Braun, we simply wouldn’t exist. We don’t have relations with the United States.”
