PiS to File Criminal Complaint Over Constitutional Tribunal Oath-Taking

Following an oath-taking ceremony in the Sejm, Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party announced it will file a criminal complaint against those involved.

Kaczyński Condemns Oath-Taking as a “Black Day”

Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of PiS, described the event as “another black day for these governments.” He stated that the credibility of the newly sworn-in Constitutional Tribunal judges has been reduced to zero, suggesting they could no longer legitimately take their oaths before Karol Nawrocki.

Kaczyński characterized the oath-taking as part of a broader operation aimed at destabilizing Poland, including damaging its public finances, economy, and healthcare system.

Kaczyński asserted that the ceremony was both “grotesque and harmful,” and represented an attempt to halt Poland’s economic development and force it into a position of complete dependence, primarily on Berlin through Brussels.

Complaint Filed Over Alleged Legal Violation

Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the PiS parliamentary club, stated there is no legal basis for the Sejm Marshal to accept oaths from individuals elected to the Constitutional Tribunal. He announced the party would file a criminal complaint based on the belief that a law was broken.

Błaszczak accused those involved in the event of exceeding their authority for personal political gain.
