Poland’s ruling PiS party will reveal its prime minister candidate at a Kraków convention this Saturday, claiming the person will be better than current PM Donald Tusk.
PiS Convention to Unveil Prime Minister Candidate
Law and Justice (PiS) party leader Jarosław Kaczyński has already decided on the party’s candidate for prime minister for the 2027 parliamentary elections. According to RMF.FM, the announcement will occur at a convention of the united right-wing parties this Saturday at Kraków’s “Sokół” hall, marking the start of the election campaign.
Previously Considered Candidates Ruled Out
Among the candidates previously considered by Kaczyński were Tobiasz Bocheński, Przemysław Czarnek, and Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Presidential Chancellery. However, it is now unlikely that any of these individuals will be presented as the candidate at the convention.
President Duda on the Future Prime Minister
When asked about the candidate, President Andrzej Duda, who was attending a local government conference in Mikołajki, stated he does not know the name and is not involved in party politics. Duda did assert that regardless of who is chosen, “with certainty, he will be a better prime minister than Donald Tusk.”
