Mokot\u00f3w police have apprehended a 40-year-old man who exploited a pawn shop employee’s distraction to steal a gold chain worth 14,000 PLN before selling the item at another location. <\/p>\n
The incident occurred at a pawn shop in Warsaw’s Mokot\u00f3w district. According to reports, a customer took advantage of a momentary lapse in the clerk’s attention. While the employee was attending to their workstation, the man reached over the counter, seized a gold chain featuring two pendants, hid it, and exited the premises.<\/p>\n
The theft was only discovered during a subsequent inventory check. After reviewing surveillance footage, the shop confirmed the crime and immediately notified the police.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Property Crimes Department launched an investigation to locate the suspect. Despite the 40-year-old\u2019s attempt to evade law enforcement, diligent operational analysis led officers to his location, resulting in his arrest.<\/p>\n
During questioning, the suspect confessed to the theft and admitted to selling the stolen jewelry to cover personal expenses. The man now faces a charge of theft and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n
