A bull bison attacked an elderly tourist at a Wyoming campsite on Friday, July 10, tossing the man approximately 2.5 meters into the air after the animal became agitated by onlookers. <\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Friday, July 10, at a campsite near a forest road while tourists were grilling. According to the Cowboy State Daily, the bison entered the area, prompting onlookers, including children and an elderly man walking with his grandson, to take photos and videos.<\/p>\n
Video footage shows the bison initially charging a passing vehicle before turning its attention to the elderly man. The animal chased him around trees before catching him and throwing him roughly 2.5 meters into the air.<\/p>\n
Montana photographer Mike MacLeod, who captured the event, described the animal as enraged and attacking everyone in sight. He noted that his perspective on bison behavior during this time of year was fundamentally changed by the aggression he witnessed.<\/p>\n
When the victim was left on the ground, MacLeod stopped filming to run toward the animal, shouting to distract it. Several other campers joined in, successfully scaring the bison away from the scene.<\/p>\n
The victim and his grandson were reportedly passing through the campsite and were not staying there when the attack took place. While there was no visible blood or external trauma, the man complained of severe pain in his hips and leg.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called immediately following the incident. The victim’s grandson later informed MacLeod that his grandfather had sustained serious injuries.
