By August 3, 2026, the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will finalize health insurance settlements for 2025, potentially resulting in refunds, debt adjustments, or the recovery of improperly collected benefits for entrepreneurs. <\/p>\n
2026 marks the fourth year of annual health insurance premium settlements for entrepreneurs. This obligation applies to business owners who reported under the tax scale, flat tax, or lump-sum tax systems in 2025.<\/p>\n
Over 2.77 million contributors were required to file annual reports for 2025, with 92.1% (approximately 2.56 million people) successfully completing the filing process.<\/p>\n
Entrepreneurs were eligible to apply for refunds of overpaid premiums until June 1. More than 821,000 payers submitted applications totaling nearly 1.37 billion PLN. To date, ZUS has processed over 99.6% of these requests, issuing 1.26 billion PLN to 770,800 recipients.<\/p>\n
For individuals with existing debts or those who received benefits improperly, ZUS has redirected overpayments to clear those outstanding balances. This process affected over 47,000 payers, covering a value exceeding 99 million PLN.<\/p>\n
Entrepreneurs who did not request a refund will have their accounts automatically settled by ZUS. This year, this involves approximately 1.1 million businesses with a total overpayment pool of over 762.8 million PLN, of which 99% has already been processed to cover outstanding liabilities.<\/p>\n
ZUS expects to conclude the processing of all remaining files no later than August 3, 2026.
