Poland\u2019s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has launched proceedings against two gaming influencers for allegedly using aggressive marketing tactics to manipulate children into purchasing their branded merchandise.<\/p>\n
The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has leveled formal charges against creators behind the “WojanGames,” “WojanPlus,” “wojanteam_pl,” “Palion Games,” and “Palion Games Plus” channels. These influencers target early-school-age children while simultaneously selling school supplies, clothing, and other goods.<\/p>\n
According to the regulator, these products were seamlessly integrated into gaming streams, often serving as the central theme of the content. Investigations and consumer complaints suggest these promotional methods may violate laws designed to protect young consumers.<\/p>\n
UOKiK President Tomasz Chr\u00f3stny stated that children are being subjected to excessive purchase pressure. The influencers allegedly transition from gaming commentary to commercial appeals for backpacks, beverages, or apparel, weaving advertising directly into entertainment content.<\/p>\n
The regulator notes that the creators addressed children directly using child-friendly language, animations, and rhymes. Furthermore, the influencers allegedly used social pressure, claiming other children had already bought the products, and created false urgency by suggesting items were limited or possessed “magical” properties.<\/p>\n
Under national and EU law, including the Act on Counteracting Unfair Market Practices, direct solicitation of children to buy products or pressure them to influence adult purchases is strictly prohibited. Children are entitled to special protection due to their limited ability to recognize commercial intent.<\/p>\n
If the allegations are confirmed, the entrepreneurs face fines of up to 10 percent of their annual turnover. Additionally, the individual managing the Wojan Group could be subject to a fine of up to 2 million PLN.<\/p>\n
