Following the 5.3% March indexation of pensions, new thresholds for beneficiaries combining two payments have taken effect. The widow\u2019s pension allows individuals to draw their own pension alongside a portion of a deceased spouse’s family pension.<\/p>\n
If the sum of your combined benefits exceeds the threshold of 5,935.47 PLN gross, ZUS will automatically reduce the payout by the surplus amount.<\/p>\n
A major financial shift is set for January 1, 2027. Currently, the second, smaller benefit is paid at 15 percent, but this will rise to 25 percent, providing a notable cash increase for eligible seniors.<\/p>\n
It must be noted that in 2027, the rigid limit of triple the lowest pension, which will undergo its own periodic adjustment, will still apply to these payments.<\/p>\n
The widow\u2019s pension is not granted automatically. Applicants must meet four strict requirements: reaching age 60 for women or 65 for men, maintaining marital community until the spouse’s death, qualifying for a family pension at age 55 or older for women or 60 or older for men, and not entering into a new marriage.<\/p>\n
ZUS reserves the right to audit cases where there was a factual separation or separate households prior to the spouse\u2019s death to verify the marital community condition.<\/p>\n
ZUS will not initiate widow\u2019s pension payments ex officio. To receive these benefits, eligible individuals must independently submit the ERWD application form.<\/p>\n
The ERWD application can be submitted in person at a ZUS office, electronically via PUE ZUS, or completed on-site with the assistance of a clerk.<\/p>\n
The maximum limit for combined benefits has risen to 5,935.47 PLN gross, which is approximately 4,989 PLN net. Any sum exceeding this threshold results in an automatic reduction by ZUS.<\/p>\n
For a family pension of 3,000 PLN gross, the additional benefit will grow from 450 PLN gross in 2026 to 750 PLN gross in 2027, resulting in a monthly gain of 300 PLN gross.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
