The Provincial Administrative Court has dismissed four appeals filed by former government official Micha\u0142 Dworczyk regarding the revocation of his security clearances for handling classified state information. <\/p>\n
As confirmed by RMF FM, the Provincial Administrative Court issued four rulings at the end of April. Micha\u0142 Dworczyk had challenged four separate decisions that stripped him of his security clearance certificates, which allowed him access to classified information at various levels of confidentiality.<\/p>\n
The court is currently drafting the written justifications for these rulings. Once published, the politician will have a 30-day window to file a cassation appeal with the Supreme Administrative Court.<\/p>\n
Unofficial reports suggest that the decision to revoke the clearances was made by the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW). The matter is directly linked to the ongoing investigation into the high-profile email scandal, in which Dworczyk is officially named as a defendant.<\/p>\n
In March, an indictment was filed with the District Court for Warsaw-\u015ar\u00f3dmie\u015bcie. Prosecutors charge Dworczyk with failing to fulfill his official duties during his time as deputy minister of national defense, a member of the Council of Ministers, and head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).<\/p>\n
Investigators assert that Dworczyk utilized a private, non-certified, and unsecured email account to conduct sensitive state business. The correspondence reportedly contained classified information concerning national defense, special services, cybersecurity, economic affairs, the COVID-19 pandemic, and international relations.<\/p>\n
The former minister also faces charges of obstructing the investigation into the breach of his private mailbox. Prosecutors allege he deleted a portion of the incoming correspondence to conceal evidence and help the perpetrator avoid criminal liability. Dworczyk refused to provide testimony when presented with the charges and faces a penalty ranging from three months to five years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
The scandal erupted in June 2021 when anonymous individuals began leaking correspondence from Dworczyk\u2019s private account on Telegram and a dedicated website. Dworczyk notified the Internal Security Agency (ABW) of the breach. Reports indicate that over 843,000 files were involved. The politician claimed he attempted to regain control of the account before opting to delete the contents from the servers.<\/p>\n
When Dworczyk provided a backup copy to prosecutors on June 29, the volume of data had dropped to approximately 46,000 messages.
