Responding to record passenger growth, Wroc\u0142aw Airport has commissioned construction firm Strabag to build a new 2,800-square-meter terminal for non-Schengen traffic, set for completion by 2027 at a cost of 15.4 million PLN.<\/p>\n
Wroc\u0142aw Airport is launching a new non-Schengen terminal to relieve pressure on its existing infrastructure. The facility will be connected to the eastern side of the current passenger terminal and is expected to handle rising traffic volumes before a larger main terminal expansion is completed.<\/p>\n
The project, which costs 15.4 million PLN, will include four independent departure gates, a duty-free shop, and dining facilities. Additionally, the arrivals area will be upgraded with six automated ABC gates and four double border control stations to improve throughput.<\/p>\n
The new terminal is designed to accommodate approximately 800 passengers waiting for border control. Airport authorities emphasize that this expansion is essential to comply with the European Union\u2019s new Entry\/Exit System (EES), which requires biometric registration for third-country nationals crossing the EU border.<\/p>\n
By shifting non-Schengen flights to this dedicated facility, the airport aims to improve efficiency within the Schengen zone. According to deputy CEO Dariusz Kowalczyk, the solution addresses immediate operational needs while ensuring a high standard of service for all passengers during peak hours.<\/p>\n
Deputy CEO Cezary Pacamaj noted that while design work for the major main terminal expansion is currently underway, the new non-Schengen facility will serve as a vital bridge to maintain service quality. The airport expects to serve over 6 million passengers this year, a historic milestone for the port.<\/p>\n
Wroc\u0142aw Airport is owned by the City of Wroc\u0142aw (49.24%), the regional government (31.02%), and Polish Airports S.A. (19.74%). The company maintains a share capital of 206.83 million PLN.<\/p>\n
