CBA agents arrested three individuals, including a former RARS employee and two former heads of the BGK Foundation, amid an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of state company donations. <\/p>\n
On Wednesday, July 15, agents from the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested 36-year-old Pawe\u0142 P., a former employee of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves (RARS), along with 52-year-old Renata K. and 42-year-old W\u0142odzimierz D., the former heads of the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego Foundation.<\/p>\n
Jacek Dobrzy\u0144ski confirmed that investigators suspect donations obtained from State Treasury companies were diverted from charitable activities to political ends.<\/p>\n
The investigation, launched on December 1, 2023, by the Katowice branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office, focuses on the abuse of power and failure to fulfill duties by RARS officials during procurement processes. The probe was initiated following classified materials from the CBA and reports from the General Inspector of Financial Information.<\/p>\n
To date, 14 individuals have been charged, including former RARS chief Micha\u0142 Kuczmierowski and Red is Bad creator Pawe\u0142 Szopa. Prosecutors allege a 91 million euro misuse of subsidies regarding contracts for power generators destined for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Pawe\u0142 Szopa was deported to Poland from the Dominican Republic in late October 2024 to face charges of money laundering and participation in an organized crime group.
