If you find money or items worth less than this amount, you have no legal obligation to report the find to the starosta or the Lost Property Office.<\/p>\n<h4>Procedures for Significant Finds<\/h4>\n<p>If the value of the found item exceeds 240.30 PLN, you must notify the local starosta. However, if the item contains identifying information, such as a wallet with documents, you are obligated to contact the owner or turn the item over to the police immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Following these procedures protects you from potential criminal charges for misappropriation of property and ensures you remain compliant with the law.<\/p>\n<h4>Claiming Ownership of Found Items<\/h4>\n<p>If you have followed all legal requirements and notified the authorities, you may legally claim ownership of the item if the rightful owner does not come forward within one year of the finding, or six months from the date of a formal notification.<\/p>\n<p>Honest finders are also entitled to a reward.
