“The Russians have once again conducted aggressive surveillance of our air defense system integration exercises over the Baltic Sea,” announced Defense Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz on Thursday, July 16. A pair of Polish jets from Malbork was scrambled to intercept two Russian Su-30SM2 aircraft from Kaliningrad.<\/p>\n
The Minister added that the Russian aircraft did not enter Polish airspace. A pair of Swedish fighters also operated in the area, providing escort for the intercepted Russian machines.<\/p>\n
A nearly identical incident occurred the previous day, Wednesday, July 15. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that Polish jets intercepted Russian Su-30SM2s from Kaliningrad, which were again monitored and escorted by Swedish fighters while remaining outside Polish airspace.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, July 14, authorities reported the interception of a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over international waters, approximately 30 kilometers from Ustka. The aircraft departed toward Russia after receiving signals to leave the area.<\/p>\n
