A 37-year-old man with a blood alcohol content of 2.7 permille was apprehended by citizens after crashing his Audi on the A1 motorway, only to be released hours later by prosecutors. <\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 18, on the A1 motorway. TVN24 operator Pawe\u0142 Skalski, who was driving behind an Audi, witnessed the vehicle collide with a truck and intervened. Skalski reported that he jumped out of his car and opened the driver\u2019s door, catching the man attempting to switch seats with a passenger.<\/p>\n
TVN24 staff and other motorists managed to restrain the man, preventing him from fleeing. Police arrived shortly after to confirm the driver was intoxicated, with a breathalyzer test revealing a blood alcohol level of 2.7 permille.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the driver acted aggressively before police arrived, spitting at the truck driver and verbally abusing those restraining him. It was later discovered that the 37-year-old had two active judicial bans prohibiting him from operating motor vehicles. Officers transported him to the station in Wo\u017aniki.<\/p>\n
Although the man could have been held in police custody until Monday, he was released on Saturday evening after an acquaintance arrived for him. A duty prosecutor from the Lubliniec District Prosecutor’s Office made the decision not to impose police supervision or any other precautionary measures.<\/p>\n
On Monday, July 20, Tomasz Ozimek, spokesperson for the Cz\u0119stochowa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the prosecutor from Lubliniec. The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances behind the decision to release the intoxicated driver.
