A batch of coconut flakes that may pose a health hazard has appeared in trade. The matter concerns a specific product that has already hit stores and is currently being removed from shelves.<\/p>\n
The issue concerns a single batch of crispy coconut flakes of the LEO good foods brand, packed in 45-gram portions, marked with batch number VN\/II\/26, with a minimum durability date of 01.05.2027. The distributor of the product is SNS Foods Sp. z o.o. from \u0141\u00f3d\u017a (Kopci\u0144skiego 69\/71 street), while the seller is Rossmann.<\/p>\n
What was detected during the inspection?<\/p>\n
During the official inspection, the permissible level of sulfur dioxide derivatives was found to be exceeded in the flakes. In addition, this allergen was not properly highlighted on the label, even though regulations require it. Information about allergenic substances should clearly differ from the rest of the ingredient list, for example by a different font, writing style, or background color, which was missing in this case.<\/p>\n

The National Institute of Public Health PZH has prepared a risk assessment regarding the questioned batch. The analysis shows that consumption of the flakes from the aforementioned batch may pose a threat to consumers, with individuals allergic to sulfites being particularly vulnerable as the product may trigger an allergic reaction. SNS Foods has already launched the procedure for withdrawing the product from the market, and visible information addressed to customers who have already made a purchase is expected to appear in stores. Sanepid is currently conducting an explanatory proceeding, and the questioned batch is successively being removed from sale.<\/p>\n
