A 26-year-old woman has been charged with violating the physical integrity of two 13-year-old girls following an incident that took place on Saturday in Legnica. The exact penalties facing the suspect have been disclosed.<\/p>\n
The incident involving the suspect and minors occurred on Saturday evening near Polarna Street, after being publicized on Facebook by the mother of two girls from Ukraine. According to the account, the children were playing near a swimming pool when another woman approached them, objecting to their use of the Ukrainian language in Poland.<\/p>\n
The woman allegedly harassed the children multiple times and punched one of the daughters of the reporting mother, another girl, and a boy who intervened. The suspect also reportedly told the children she did this because they are from Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Superintendent Jagoda Ekiert of the Legnica Police Headquarters stated on Wednesday that officers worked intensively to clarify the exact sequence of events by securing footage, identifying witnesses, and gathering evidence. They identified the 26-year-old suspect, who was detained and brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica to face charges.<\/p>\n
The charges concern causing bodily harm or health disruption lasting no longer than seven days. The prosecutor also charged her with compelling another person, through violence or unlawful threat, to specific actions, omissions, or endurance, in connection with the hooligan nature of the act, Superintendent Ekiert said.<\/p>\n
The suspect faces up to seven years and six months of imprisonment. Police supervision, a restraining order regarding the victims, and a ban on approaching the playground on Polarna Street in Legnica have been applied against her.<\/p>\n
An attack on children due to their origin also occurred in mid-July in Bielsko-Bia\u0142a. Ukrainian teenagers were verbally assaulted in a city bus by a 54-year-old man who addressed them aggressively and vulgarly. The bus driver and a passenger intervened, and the man was detained and charged with insulting three Ukrainian females, including two 11-year-olds, and violating the physical integrity of one of them, carrying a penalty of up to three years in prison.<\/p>\n
