Polish police have arrested a 26-year-old woman in Legnica after she physically assaulted Ukrainian children at a local playground simply because of their nationality. <\/p>\n
This is another case of aggression against Ukrainian children. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, July 18, on Polarna Street. The matter was publicized on Facebook by the mother of two girls originally from Ukraine.<\/p>\n
A 26-year-old woman from Legnica was detained in connection with aggression against children from Ukraine. According to the account, her children were playing with others by the pool when another woman approached them with her children, complaining that they were using the Ukrainian language in Poland. The woman allegedly harassed the children several times before punching one of the reporting woman’s daughters, as well as a girl and a boy who came to their defense. She stated that she did this because the children are from Ukraine.<\/p>\n
As reported on Wednesday, July 22, by senior commissioner Jagoda Ekiert from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica, officers arrested the 26-year-old local resident suspected of striking minors. The woman was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica, where she was presented with charges.<\/p>\n
The charges concern causing a violation of bodily function or health lasting no longer than seven days. The prosecutor also charged her with compelling another person, through violence or unlawful threat, to perform, refrain from, or endure a specific action, in connection with the hooligan nature of the act, said senior commissioner Ekiert. The suspect faces up to seven and a half years of imprisonment. She has been placed under police supervision and subjected to a restraining order preventing her from approaching the victims and the playground on Polarna Street in Legnica.<\/p>\n
An attack on children due to their origin also occurred in mid-July in Bielsko-Bia\u0142a. Ukrainian teenagers were verbally attacked in a city bus by a 54-year-old man who addressed them in an aggressive and vulgar manner. The bus driver and a passenger intervened, and the man was arrested and charged with insulting three Ukrainian girls, including two 11-year-olds, and violating the physical integrity of one of them. He faces up to three years in prison.<\/p>\n
Last Tuesday, July 14, Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Czes\u0142aw Mroczek reported an increasing number of hate crimes. Between 2024 and 2025, there was a more than 30 percent increase in their number, rising from 760 in 2024 to 1,200 in 2025.<\/p>\n
