A July CBOS poll reveals mounting public dissatisfaction in Poland, with negative evaluations of the country’s direction, political situation, and economic outlook increasing significantly across demographics. <\/p>\n
In mid-June, 31 percent of respondents believed the country was heading in the right direction, while 48 percent held the opposite view, and 21 percent had no opinion. By July, the percentage rating the situation as good decreased by 3 percentage points compared to June, while those rating it as bad increased by 2 points.<\/p>\n
Perceptions of the situation in Poland depend on party preferences. The overall situation is judged more negatively than average by individuals aged 35\u201344 and rural residents. Personal material conditions also influence these views: among those describing their financial situation as bad, 76 percent evaluate the country’s situation negatively. Among those rating their material conditions as good, 45 percent share this negative view.<\/p>\n
Perceptions of the general situation in Poland also depend on the respondents’ party preferences. Positive evaluations outweigh negative ones among supporters of the ruling coalition parties: Civic Coalition and New Left. Critical evaluations dominate among the electorates of opposition parties, with the highest percentage recorded among voters of Confederation of the Polish Crown.<\/p>\n
Expectations regarding the general situation in the country over the next year are worse than a month ago. The percentage of people expecting deterioration increased from 29 percent to 30 percent. The largest group (46 percent\u2014a increase of 2 points) believes the situation in the country will not change, while 14 percent forecast improvement (a decrease of 4 points).<\/p>\n
Over the past month, the perception of the political situation has deteriorated. The share of people evaluating it negatively rose from 45 percent to 51 percent, which\u2014according to CBOS\u2014represents the highest percentage of critical votes in the current government’s term. Simultaneously, the share of respondents declaring the political situation to be good decreased from 13 percent to 11 percent. Meanwhile, 33 percent of respondents (3 percentage points fewer than last month) describe the current political situation as “neither good nor bad.”<\/p>\n
Expectations regarding the political situation in Poland are also worse than a month ago. The percentage of those expecting it to deteriorate over the next twelve months rose from 26 percent to 29 percent. The share of optimists remained at almost the same level (11 percent compared to 10 percent in June), and 52 percent of respondents do not anticipate changes either for better or worse over the coming year (a decrease of 3 percentage points).<\/p>\n
The percentage of people giving a good rating to the economic situation in Poland dropped to 34 percent (3 percentage points lower than in June), yet more people still evaluate the economic situation as good than as bad (30 percent\u2014an increase of 3 points). As CBOS notes, the predominance of positive assessments over negative ones has persisted continuously since May 2025. Nearly one in three (32 percent) respondents describes the current economic situation as “neither good nor bad.”<\/p>\n
Anxiety about the deterioration of the economic situation over the next year is shared by 26 percent of respondents (2 points more than in June). Improvement is expected by 19 percent of respondents (a decrease of 2 points), while nearly half (47 percent), unchanged from June, predict the maintenance of the status quo.<\/p>\n
In July, practically all analyzed social mood indicators deteriorated. The largest changes were recorded in evaluations of the political situation and forecasts regarding respondents’ living standards, CBOS summarizes. At the same time, it notes that for over a year, more respondents have evaluated the state of the Polish economy positively than negatively. Despite the declines registered this month, evaluations of the respondents’ own material situation and living standards also remain relatively good, it adds.<\/p>\n
The survey was conducted from July 2 to July 12, 2026, on a sample of 938 adult residents of Poland, drawn from the PESEL registry. Each respondent chose one of three survey methods: 65.5 percent chose a direct interview with an interviewer (CAPI method), 16.6 percent chose a telephone interview after contacting a CBOS interviewer (CATI), and 17.9 percent completed an online questionnaire independently (CAWI).
