PiS leader Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski and Deputy President Mateusz Morawiecki are set to meet on Thursday amid an ultimatum requiring party members to quit political associations. <\/p>\n
“Tomorrow at 12:00 at the PiS headquarters at Nowogrodzka Street, a meeting will take place between Prime Minister Jaros\u0142awa Kaczy\u0144ski, PiS president, and Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki,” PiS spokesperson Rafa\u0142 Bochenek announced on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on X that “the rule of the United Right and the cooperation of many environments within PiS changed Poland” and urged following the path that gave PiS victory. “Let’s go the path of agreement, ambition, solidarity and development,” he added, stating in an attached video that he will not allow “eight years of great change to be reduced to personal vendettas and internal ambitions.”<\/p>\n
Last week, the PiS leadership issued a resolution obligating party activists\u2014under threat of exclusion\u2014to resign from associations “conducting political activity” within the grouping, specifically targeting Morawiecki’s “Rozw\u00f3j Plus” and MP Jacek Sasin’s “Po pierwsze Polska”. The deadline for the decision was set until the end of the day on Thursday, July 23.<\/p>\n
Sasin announced the same day the resolution was passed that his association had ceased operations, while Morawiecki declared he wants to stay in PiS and develop his association because he wants the victory of an ambitious Poland.<\/p>\n
Last Friday, members of Morawiecki’s association emphasized in a letter to the PiS leader that their goal is party unity and reaching out to groups that have left the party in recent years. The letter was signed by 45 PiS politicians, including MPs, senators, and MEPs, as well as M\u00fcller, who served as government spokesperson during Morawiecki’s premiership.<\/p>\n
The PiS spokesperson reported that a meeting between Kaczy\u0144ski and Morawiecki took place the same day but did not resolve the matter, with Bochenek confirming the order to leave associations remained current.<\/p>\n
Bochenek also reported on Tuesday via X that the party’s political committee will meet next week to decide on approving parliamentarians’ declarations regarding their party membership. “Time is until Thursday, the end of the day. Association or party,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
