Poland’s Prosecutor General has submitted a request to the Sejm Speaker to waive the parliamentary immunity of independent MP \u0141ukasz Mejza amid allegations of fraud and EU training grant extortion. <\/p>\n
Prosecutor General Waldemar \u017burek submitted a request to the Marshal of the Sejm to waive the immunity of non-affiliated MP \u0141ukasz Mejza to enable criminal proceedings against him, as announced by Prosecutor General\u2019s spokesperson Prosecutor Anna Adamiak. The case concerns suspected irregularities in the implementation of e-learning training sessions.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Adamiak stated that the request is based on evidence gathered by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Pozna\u0144 regarding irregularities in e-learning training for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise employees.<\/p>\n
The trainings, according to the spokesperson, were carried out between 2019 and 2022 under the projects “Lubuskie Development Vouchers in the Zielona G\u00f3ra Subregion \u2013 Edition II” and “Lubuskie Training Vouchers in the Gorz\u00f3w Subregion \u2013 Edition II.” These projects were co-financed by the European Union, managed by the Lubuskie Voivodeship, and operated by the Regional Development Agency S.A. in Zielona G\u00f3ra and the Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gorz\u00f3w Wielkopolski.<\/p>\n
“The evidence gathered in the case provided grounds for a sufficiently justified suspicion that MP \u0141ukasz Mejza committed three separate acts, each of which fulfills the criteria of the crimes of fraud, document forgery, and subsidy extortion,” the spokesperson stated.<\/p>\n
Consequently, the Prosecutor General forwarded the Regional Prosecutor’s request in Pozna\u0144 to the Marshal of the Sejm to grant consent for holding the MP criminally liable for three offenses.<\/p>\n
These offenses allegedly involved Mejza\u2014acting jointly with an identified person between March 13 and August 27, 2020, for financial gain while operating the business “Future Wolves \u0141ukasz Mejza” registered in the Training Services Database\u2014misleading the Regional Development Agency S.A. in Zielona G\u00f3ra regarding the financing of the own contribution for a total of five training participants and their recruitment rules, by transferring funds to cover the required contribution and leading them to choose trainings organized by “Future Wolves” without maintaining impartiality.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, as Prosecutor Adamiak indicated, he certified untruths in invoices concerning circumstances relevant to obtaining financial support via subsidies in connection with the project’s implementation, in amounts that were not subject to refund, leading the Agency to an unfavorable property management decision involving a total of 66,250 PLN and causing actual damage to the aggrieved company totaling 49,687.50 PLN.<\/p>\n
During a subsequent press conference, Prosecutor Adamiak stated that misleading the Regional Development Agency in Zielona G\u00f3ra consisted of Mejza failing to inform the Agency about how the own contribution was financed by the training participants, as well as the rules of their recruitment.<\/p>\n
– Consequently, he submitted invoices that certified untruths regarding specific amounts in order to obtain funding from EU subsidies – Prosecutor Adamiak said.<\/p>\n
She added that this led to an unfavorable property management decision by the Regional Development Agency in Zielona G\u00f3ra amounting to over 600,000 PLN, while the actual damage incurred by the agency is approximately 50,000 PLN.<\/p>\n
She reported that Mejza transferred money to specific individuals, who then deposited the funds into their own accounts. These funds were subsequently to be transferred to the Agency’s account. – This resulted in these individuals bearing no own contribution, but rather obtaining the money from Mr. \u0141ukasz Mejza. Consequently, it also caused these individuals to choose trainings organized precisely by Mr. Mejza’s company – Prosecutor Adamiak explained.<\/p>\n
In the 2023 elections, Mejza ran for the Sejm as a representative of the Republican Party from the PiS list in the constituency covering the Lubuskie Voivodeship and won a mandate. In late December 2023, the Republican Party merged with PiS.<\/p>\n
In April 2025, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona G\u00f3ra filed an indictment against Mejza in court. He was charged with 11 counts, most of which relate to providing false information or concealing it in asset declarations between 2021 and 2024. Also in April of last year, Mejza ceased to be a member of the PiS parliamentary club.
