“Our Ukrainian Defense Forces struck one of the important defense enterprises in Russian Kirov today. It supplies components for the occupier’s aviation and missile equipment, used, among other things, during massive attacks on our cities and communities. I thank our soldiers for their precision! This is a completely fair response,” Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media. Reports indicate the attack was carried out with a heavy FP-5 “Flamingo” long-range cruise missile.<\/p>\n
According to Zelensky, Ukrainian “long-range sanctions,” as he termed them, also targeted an oil facility located nearly 1,350 kilometers from Ukraine. “There were also other hits. It is important that the operation targeting Russian logistics, which supplies the occupier’s army with drone components, navigation equipment, and gear, is also ongoing,” the Ukrainian president noted.<\/p>\n
“This morning, a missile attacked a company in Kirov. Unfortunately, there are fatalities. Everyone is receiving medical assistance. Emergency services are working at the scene, and the situation is under control,” stated Kirov Oblast Governor Alexander Sokolov.<\/p>\n
He added that the Kirov Regional Anti-Terrorist Commission “issued a decision prohibiting the publication of photographs, videos, and any information about attacks and their consequences in social media and other information sources that would allow the identification of the territory, object, or type of destruction.”<\/p>\n
“I appeal to the residents of the Kirov Oblast to comply with this order,” the Russian governor urged.<\/p>\n
On the night from Thursday to Friday, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with five Kh-59\/69 guided air missiles and 180 drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down four Kh-59\/69 guided missiles and 160 enemy Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones in the north, south, and east of the country. Hits by one guided missile and 14 attack drones were recorded across nine locations.<\/p>\n
Russia has been attacking Ukraine daily since February 24, 2022, the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In recent months, the Ukrainian army has regularly carried out drone attacks on Russia, targeting primarily energy infrastructure that enables the Kremlin to finance military operations. As Reuters noted, intensified Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have caused acute fuel shortages in almost all regions of the country.<\/p>\n
