He added that the perpetrator likely also attacked people with a machete at the crime scene. Several hundred thousand people participated in the Pride Parade in Berlin. The attack occurred next to the main march route in the Tiergarten park in central Berlin, close to the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz.<\/p>\n
Dobrindt reported that one woman died in the attack and 29 people were injured. Earlier, the German fire department stated that three of the injured are in life-threatening condition.<\/p>\n
A manhunt for the suspect is ongoing. He has previously been detained by the police.<\/p>\n

The head of the German Interior Ministry noted that Abdul B. was previously known to the police and had committed crimes in the past. He added that the alleged perpetrator had radicalized and belonged to Islamist circles. He also explained that the 21-year-old was born in Germany in 2005 and has Lebanese roots.<\/p>\n
According to German media, the main suspect tried to join the Islamic State (IS), but failed. Journalists report that the man traveled to Lebanon in 2025, and upon returning to Berlin, he was detained by the police. Until May of this year, he remained in pre-trial detention and was ordered to participate in a deradicalization program.<\/p>\n
As the BBC noted, it remains uncertain whether there was only one person in the car used by the perpetrator for the attack.<\/p>\n

Numerous leaders and politicians declared their support for the victims of Saturday’s attack and for the LGBT+ community, among them French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Polish government’s plenipotentiary for equality, Katarzyna Kotula, also reacted to the attack, writing on the X platform: “Our thoughts are with Berliners and the participants of Christopher Street Day.”<\/p>\n
The Pride Parade, held annually in the German capital, is officially called Christopher Street Day. It refers to events in New York, USA, in 1969 when police launched a brutal attack on the Stonewall bar frequented by the LGBT+ community.
