The Pentagon has launched a six-month review of US forces in Europe under Pete Hegseth, raising questions about future deployments and potential impacts on Poland’s eastern flank. <\/p>\n
The review of US military presence in Europe was announced by the US Secretary of War during the June NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels. He stated that the process will take up to six months. Pete Hegseth declared at the time that some Alliance countries will fail the test while others will pass with flying colors.<\/p>\n
Deputy Secretary Colby emphasized in a post on X that the result of the review will be to accelerate NATO’s transformation into a stronger, fairer, and more sustainable alliance. He added that the review will contribute to the further goal of fully restoring NATO’s character as a powerful organization capable of warfare\u2014NATO 3.0.<\/p>\n
Hegseth’s chief advisor wrote that this will put NATO on a path of lasting, long-term success. The Deputy Pentagon Chief noted that the review will ensure US force deployments in Europe reflect the 2025 National Security Strategy and the 2026 National Defense Strategy.<\/p>\n
