Seniors with health reasons and low incomes or no pension rights can receive the 500 PLN supplementary benefit from ZUS to boost their household budgets. <\/p>\n
The supplementary benefit is a type of support for people who are incapable of independent existence, commonly called 500 plus for a senior, and this social group is the largest beneficiary of the benefit due to their health, financial, and family situation.<\/p>\n
Who can receive support? These are people who are over 18 years of age, incapable of independent existence confirmed by a relevant certificate, have no pension or other public-funded monetary benefit rights or whose total amount does not exceed a specific income criterion, reside in Poland, have Polish citizenship, or are EU, EFTA, EEA, Swiss citizens with residence rights or legal foreigners.<\/p>\n
Receiving 500 PLN as a supplementary benefit requires submitting an application, which can be done independently, by a statutory representative, proxy, or actual caregiver.<\/p>\n
The document can be submitted at any ZUS branch, sent by post, or filled out electronically through PUE ZUS, with a decision issued within 30 days from the clarification of the last circumstance conditioning the benefit.<\/p>\n
Filling out the application is not difficult, and help is available at ZUS branches or the Telephone Service Center for filling out the ESUN application form step by step.<\/p>\n
The application must include the authorized person’s details, other necessary information regarding the right to the benefit, and the preferred payment method along with a signature and required medical certificates or statements.<\/p>\n
Even if a senior or younger person is incapable of independent existence, they may not receive the monthly 500 PLN support if their total public-funded benefits exceed the gross income criterion of 2,687.67 PLN, or if they are temporarily arrested or serving a prison sentence outside of electronic monitoring.<\/p>\n
The supplementary benefit is a maximum of 500 PLN, but the total amount of this benefit and other public-funded benefits cannot exceed 2,157.80 PLN, meaning higher combined amounts will proportionally reduce the supplementary benefit.<\/p>\n
