A 59-year-old Polish tourist has died on a trail leading to Rysy in the Tatra Mountains after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest, despite immediate rescue efforts. <\/p>\n
Tragedy struck in the Tatra Mountains as a 59-year-old tourist from Poland died on the trail leading to Rysy following a sudden cardiac arrest. Despite an immediate rescue operation carried out by bystander tourists and mountain rescuers, his life could not be saved.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred before noon in the Mengusovsk\u00e1 Valley on the red trail leading to the Chata pod Rysmi. According to the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service (HZS), witnesses reported that the 59-year-old Pole complained of chest pain before losing consciousness, falling, and sustaining a head injury due to sudden cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n
Bystander tourists immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A helicopter from Slovakia carrying a doctor and an HZS rescuer was dispatched to the scene, while Chata pod Rysmi staff delivered an automated external defibrillator to the victim.<\/p>\n
“Upon arrival, the doctor and HZS rescuer continued advanced resuscitation measures, also utilizing a defibrillator. Despite the efforts undertaken, it was not possible to restore vital functions, and the doctor pronounced the man dead,” Slovak rescuers stated.<\/p>\n
The tourist’s body was transported by helicopter to Stary Smokovec and handed over to the Slovak police.<\/p>\n
This marks the second fatal incident in the Rysy area within two days. On Tuesday, on the Polish side of the Tatra Mountains along the trail to Rysy, a foreign tourist died after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.
