A tragic night across Ukraine leaves multiple fatalities, including children, and injuries following massive Russian missile and drone strikes that hit several regions and damaged residential buildings. <\/p>\n
The attack on the capital of Ukraine began around midnight, with the Kyiv military administration warning of a ballistic missile threat. In the Obolon district, non-residential buildings caught fire, and garages burned in Sviatoshyn. Around 3:00 AM, reports emerged of one fatality in the capital, along with at least two injuries.<\/p>\n
The most tragic toll was recorded in Kryvyi Rih in western Ukraine. According to local administration head Oleksandr Vilkul, an Iskander-M ballistic missile directly hit an apartment building in the city’s suburbs. Vilkul reported that six people were killed\u2014two girls aged 5 and 12, and four adults. Eight people were injured, including two boys aged 6 and 15.<\/p>\n
Additionally, two people\u2014a 26-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman\u2014were injured during Russian attacks in the Nikopol region. A gas station was also damaged as a result of the shelling.<\/p>\n
Around 3:40 AM Polish time (4:40 AM Ukrainian time), an air raid siren was also sounded in Lviv. According to Lviv Oblast Governor Maksym Kozicki, two apartment blocks were damaged as a result of a missile attack. City Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported that six people were injured, five of whom were hospitalized.<\/p>\n
“The most severe damage was recorded in two residential buildings on Paton and Vyhovsky streets. Currently, about 20 injured people are known,” the city’s mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, reported on Telegram.<\/p>\n
Rescue operations are still ongoing, and people may remain under the rubble. Sadovyi added that rescuers are continuing to extract people from collapsed buildings, explaining that a total of over 20 residential buildings were damaged, along with a school and two kindergartens.<\/p>\n
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia carried out a massive, coordinated attack on Ukraine at night, using strike drones and air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles simultaneously. Ukrainian air defense neutralized 320 out of 358 air attack weapons launched by Russia.<\/p>\n
At night, due to Russian attacks, sirens also sounded in Poland in the Lublin Voivodeship.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Wednesday evening that a massive attack by Russian forces was very likely to occur during the night. “The Russians prepared to carry out a massive attack a few days ago, and it is very likely that they will carry it out tonight,” Zelensky wrote on social media, urging residents to prepare for potential air raid alerts and noting he received the information from Ukrainian Air Force Commander General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko.<\/p>\n
Zelensky stressed that it is important for partners to know that protecting the lives of Ukrainians depends on their readiness or lack thereof to provide assistance by supplying missiles for air defense systems.
